Our Care Team is the heart of Wellthy — compassionate and knowledgeable individuals who bring their expertise and empathy to every interaction, and who work tirelessly to navigate the complex healthcare system, find solutions to challenges, and advocate for families.

Our dedicated Care Coordinators are carefully matched with each individual and family, alongside specialized Care Advisers who provide in-depth expertise behind the scenes.

Together, it’s a superpowered team of social workers, nurses, social service experts, mental health practitioners, childcare experts, case managers, doulas, and more who are there to meet the diverse care needs of families. There’s no situation that our Care Team hasn’t seen or supported, and there’s no challenge too complex.

Q: How has care played a part in your life?

“Before joining Wellthy, my grandmother had a stroke, which left her immobile and bedridden. She needed around-the-clock care, including dressing, bathing, and tending to an infection on her foot daily. Caring for her was a crash course in caregiving, as I quickly learned about programs available to help us (e.g., respite care), administering her medications, and how to physically move her in and out of bed. As I was going through that experience, I thought to myself, "If given the opportunity, I would love to make a difference and help someone not go through what I went through."

Q: What inspires you to work in care?

“I’m really driven by wanting to help others live the best life possible using the tools they have and sharing tools that I have. I am an educator at heart and enjoy helping people feel more prepared and succeed. There’s so much education needed around caring for seniors related to long term care, insurance, Medicare coverage, and what to expect out of an assisted living facility. I really like helping people plan and prepare and that I’m able to help people with different financial struggles and medical bills.”

Q: What advice would you give a first-time caregiver?

“The hardest thing you will have to do is take care of yourself. It’s like when the oxygen masks drop on a plane – you have to put yours on before you help others or you won’t be of any help to anyone. Second, don’t be afraid to ask for help from others. When people do offer to help you, have a list of things ready to respond to them with. If you’re in the midst of caregiving, you will probably want to say “I don’t even know where to begin.” But, if you’re able to look at your list of tasks to be done, you can say to someone “I need you to go to the grocery store on Tuesday” or whatever the task may be.”

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a Care Adviser?

“I love that I’m actually making an impact in my work at Wellthy, and helping families or individuals meet their care needs every single day. I’ve helped more than 1,000 Wellthy members over the last two years!

My fellow team members at Wellthy are also always willing to help and give advice to one another. We are all committed to our mission of helping individuals and families navigate the world of care, so everyone is very supportive if you have a question or need to loop in someone with more experience on a topic. There's a great depth of expertise here.”

Q: What is one of the most memorable care tasks you have worked on?

“I needed to locate housing for a mother and her 9 year old boy who were refugees from Ukraine. I completed a search for refugee services and affordable housing complexes, and quickly learned there were very long waitlists. I learned that the local housing authorities were not even accepting new applications. I reached out anyway in hopes there was something they could do. They wanted to help, and we got put at the top of the priority wait list so that they may be the first people to apply for housing opportunities as they became available.

Sometimes it takes speaking to several people in the community to find exactly what you need, and I'm very happy we were able to help this family.”
